The MetaOPAC Azalai Italiano (MAI) is an even larger network than SBN, with a greater number of academic libraries. Its portal of online library catalogs is organized by the Italian Library Association (Associazione Italiana Biblioteche or AIB) and the Consorzio Interuniversitario Lombardo per l'Elaborazione Automatica (CILEA). Although MAI doesn't have an English interface, it searches a larger pool of records and may be a good place to check for an item that doesn't turn up in SBN, particularly if that item is a more recent, scholarly work.
