Security is very tight in Russian libraries. Usually you are asked to leave all your belongings, including your jacket,
backpack, CD player, etc., in a cloak room. When you finish your work and leave the library, you will need a claim tag from the circulation
desk to present at the cloak room to retrieve your belongings.
During your first visit to the library, you will be asked to complete a registration form.
Be prepared to provide the following information:
You will also have to supply two passport/visa size photos and pay a modest fee in rubles (often less than $5.00). The library card is issued for a limited period of time, in most cases for the duration of your program.
