Get an idea of what's going on in Spain before you go by reading Spanish newspapers.
A list of major and regional Spanish newspapers on the Web is available from ThePaperboy.com.
Arguably, the most important papers in Spain are:
El País - most widely read paper in Spain
El Mundo - second largest daily, more visual in style than El País
Diario ABC - oldest daily in Spain
Barcelona's two Spanish-language papers
La Vanguardia and
El Periódico
UNC subscribes to the print version of El País. Issues from the past month are in the Periodicals Reading Room in Davis Library on the 1st Floor, to your right just as you enter the building.
Search back issues of some major papers in Spain in the database Factiva (note: works only in Internet Explorer), including Expansión and Cinco Días (business), El País, El Mundo, ABC (Madrid), and La Vanguardia (Barcelona). To access Factiva, go to www.lib.unc.edu, Article Databases, and F for Factiva.
