Evaluating Information

Determing whether the information you've found is appropriate for your research will depend on several factors. First, be sure you know what type of information your instructor considers appropriate for your assignment. For instance, many instructors require the use of scholarly or scientific journal articles, or ask their students not to use information from the Web. Sometimes this is made explicit in your course syllabus, but if it's not, you should check with your instructor to make sure you know what type of sources are acceptable.
