Position: Program Coordinator, North Carolina Digital Heritage Center (*Fixed-Term Appointment*)

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library seeks an experienced, creative, and collaborative individual for the position of Program Coordinator for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. This new position will have responsibility for general management of a center that will provide digitization and hosting services for cultural heritage materials held by libraries, archives, historical societies, and other institutions in the state of North Carolina. Housed in the North Carolina Collection at the University of North Carolina Library, the Center will provide broad and integrated access to digital representatives of these materials to the citizens of the state of North Carolina and to teachers, students, and researchers across the state and beyond.

The Program Coordinator will report to the Curator of the North Carolina Collection and will work closely with the Curator and the Center's Advisory Board in establishing priorities and work flow plans for digitization projects and initiatives. The Program Coordinator will develop collaborative relationships with institutions throughout the state and will facilitate discussions of potential digitization projects and initiatives. The Coordinator will also prepare budgets and monitor expenditures; prepare grants applications and reports; and publicize and promote the plans and accomplishments of the Center. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning and supervising the work of a Project Management Librarian and, when available, supplementary staff, including student assistants. Travel, including occasional overnight trips will be required.

Qualifications

Required:
ALA-accredited MLS. Three or more years of full-time work experience in a library, archives, museum, or other cultural repository with significant experience and accomplishments involving digitization of library, archival, or museum materials. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with curatorial, digitization, public services, and conservation staff. Commitment to promoting cooperative working relationships between/among multiple repositories. Excellent communication skills. Supervisory experience.

Preferred:
Project management experience. Knowledge of North Carolina history, literature, and culture. Knowledge of CONTENTdm and website development.

Salary and Benefits
This is a twelve-month fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of two one-year renewals. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
