Position: Standing Order Receipt Assistant
Position Number: 16828
Salary Range: $24,605 - $54,000

The Monographic Services Department is a newly reorganized department that orders, receives, and catalogs monographic material. The Standing Order Receipt Assistant is responsible for checking in titles using Millennium, an automated ILS system. This position also authorizes invoices and credits. An important job function is the claiming of overdue standing orders and the processing of the claim responses, which may require further correspondence, or necessitate active problem solving. The Standing Order Receipt Assistant reports to the Standing Order Specialist; maintains regular contact with selectors and staff within the University Library; and is engaged in active problem solving both within the library and with foreign and domestic vendors and exchange partners worldwide. The Standing Order Receipt Assistant corresponds by email, fax, and phone, in addition to general business letter format. The person in this position uses databases as well as Internet resources to research and resolve problems. In performance of these duties, this position requires almost continuous use of a PC keyboard and mouse.

This position is being recruited at the Contributing Competency Level under the Career Banding program.

Qualifications

Required:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.
Preferred:
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, to manage time, and to meet deadlines. Strong communication and organizational skills and a careful attention to detail. Familiarity with at least one modern European language (French or German especially helpful). Flexibility, the ability to work well under pressure, and a willingness to learn new skills are expected. Internet experience; and familiarity with a Windows environment with word-processing and database skills. Previous library experience is helpful. Experience with Millennium (or another automated library system) in a technical services environment is useful.
