The Microforms Supervisor is a member of the Documents Section of the Davis Library Reference Department. The Microforms Supervisor reports to the Federal Documents Coordinator.
The Microforms Supervisor is responsible for assisting library patrons and staff with in-depth questions about the Microforms Collection and proper use of Microforms equipment. This position interviews, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises 3-8 student workers, who assist with the coverage of the Microforms Desk and special projects concerning the maintenance of the Microforms Collection. The Microforms Supervisor is responsible for training reference staff, who assist with coverage of the Microforms Desk.
The Microforms Supervisor is responsible for tabulating, maintaining and distributing statistics regarding the Microforms Collection using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. This position also compiles and reports daily and weekly financial transactions for the Microforms Collection to the Library Accounting Office. The Microforms Supervisor maintains the Microforms Collection, including absorption of new materials, loaning of materials, organization of materials, and preparation of guides and web pages on using the materials. This position maintains Microforms equipment in Davis Library and troubleshoots Microforms equipment in Wilson Library. The Microforms Supervisor, if so scheduled, works at the Davis Library Reference Desk, providing basic reference assistance to all library patrons in person, on the phone, via Chat and IM and, if requested, provides bibliographic instruction on the Microforms Collection and equipment to University and Library classes.
This position is being recruited for at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding program. Due to internal pay alignment and funding, the anticipated hiring range for this position is $26,000 - $37,209.
Scheduled Hours
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with occasional night or weekend coverage.
Qualifications
Required:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.
Preferred:
Academic Library experience, including familiarity with microforms; Machine experience, including familiarity with cash registers and scanners; Supervisory experience and training experience; Computer experience, including web page creation software, Millennium Integrated Library System, and Microsoft Office applications; Financial experience, including working with money and balancing accounts; Ability to work independently, with minimal direct supervision; Good problem solving skills; Good verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated accuracy and attention to details; Foreign Language skills.
