The Assistant Evening and Weekend supervisor and Storage/LSC Project Coordinator, is one of two evening weekend positions in the Circulation Department at Davis Library. The position is also a primary working and supervisory staff member responsible for transport, preparation, and other clerical and procedural responsibilities with materials transferred from Davis Library to the Library Service Center (LSC). Delivery and retrieval of document delivery requests to and from the LSC is also a part of this position's daily routine. The supervisory responsibility includes training and oversight of circulation desk student staff during on Sundays and other evening and weekend shifts as needed during a Sunday through Thursday schedule. Supervisory staff members in Circulation are responsible for responding to security, equipment, system, and facility problems and notifying the proper persons and agencies for dealing with those problems. This position is one of several staff responsible for maintaining stacks operations in Davis and in our on campus storage facility at Wilson Annex. Cross training for all general departmental functions is essential to cover required services. This position interacts with the public at the Circulation Desk, by telephone, and through written correspondence. The Library uses the Millennium circulation software, a product of Innovative Interfaces, Inc and GFA, a system used to manage and monitor holdings in the LSC.
This position is being recruited for at the Contributing Competency Level under the Career Banding program. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $24,605 - $32,477.
Work Schedule
The work schedule is 9:00am - 6:00pm Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 10:00 am until 7:00pm. Temporary changes in the work schedule may be required during final exams, intersessions, holidays, and to cover staff absences.
Qualifications
Required:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.
Preferred:
Good written and oral communication skills, public service experience, some supervisory experience, knowledge of library classification systems, some college education, and experience with computers and automated systems. Experience in an academic library circulation department is preferred. This job will require a licensed driver who can drive a 16 ft panel truck and be able to move and manipulate large book transporting trucks that weigh in excess of 300 lbs when loaded.
