The E-Resources & Serials Management (ESM) Department acquires, catalogs and manages access to electronic resources and to serials in all formats. The ESM Assistant's principal responsibilities are: to provide database management and technical assistance on a range of ESM activities; to gather, report, and normalize usage statistics for e-resources; to tabulate and distribute departmental statistics drawn from a variety of sources, including spreadsheets and the Millennium integrated library system; to compile payroll, leave and general administrative reports for the department; to assist in maintaining the ESM intranet site and wiki; to serve as a primary contact for supplies and Facilities concerns; and to assist with special projects as needed. This person will also be asked to assist with general orientation and training of new staff members. The position requires good computer skills and aptitude, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to perform complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy and minimal direct supervision. The successful candidate must be able to work well with a wide variety of people and to work individually on concentrated tasks. This position reports to the Head of E-Resources & Serials Management.
This position is being recruited at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding program. The hiring range for this position is $25,000 - $33,712.
Qualifications
Required:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.
Preferred:
Advanced experience with computers and software, particularly spreadsheet manipulation and database creation; familiarity with OCLC and Millennium or another integrated library system; experience with web page and wiki creation and maintenance; strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail; proven problem solving skills; the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, manage time and meet deadlines; flexibility and willingness to learn new skills; the ability to work well under pressure and with minimal direct supervision; previous academic library and technical services experience.
