Working Title: Subscription Receipt Specialist

The Subscription Receipt Specialist is a member of the Print Serials Acquisitions Section of the E-Resources & Serials Management (ESM) Department in the University Library. ESM acquires, catalogs and manages access to electronic resources and to serials in all formats. The Subscription Receipt Specialist is one of five positions in the Print Serials Acquisitions Section and reports to the Section Head. The Specialist's principal responsibilities are: to claim overdue subscription material on approximately 7,300 subscription titles; to order, receive and pay for subscription material missed through claiming; to hire, train and supervise 3-4 student assistants who check in approximately 7,300 subscription titles; to check in microfiche material; and to supervise and back up the opening of package mail as needed. Most duties are carried out in the Millennium integrated library system. Additional responsibilities involve training staff, special projects as assigned by the supervisor, and helping to answer the departmental phone as needed.

The Subscription Receipt Specialist maintains regular contact with selectors and staff within the University Library, as well as with foreign and domestic vendors and exchange partners worldwide. The Specialist uses email, fax, phone and postal mail for business correspondence and uses online databases to research and resolve receipt problems. In performance of these duties, this position requires the ability to lift material weighing up to 50 pounds.

This position is being recruited at the Contributing Competency Level under the Career Banding Program. The hiring range for this position is $25,000-$28,477.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday during normal business hours; some flexibility possible as long as essential duties are covered.

Qualifications

Required:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.
Preferred:
Ability to organize effectively for high production with close attention to detail and high accuracy; proven problem solving ability; ability to work independently in a team setting; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others; ability to maintain poise and tact under the pressure of high workloads, frequent interruptions and rapid technological changes; familiarity with at least one modern European language; mathematical aptitude; previous supervisory experience; previous serials experience; familiarity with Millennium or another integrated library system in a technical services environment.
