• Canadian Patents Database (CIPO)

  CIPO contains patent documents from 1920 to the present. Patents granted before August 15, 1978 are searchable by patent number, titles, owner or inventor names, or classification. Patents granted after that date are also searchable by the text of abstracts and claims.

• European and World Patents (esp@cenet)

  The European Patent Office provides worldwide coverage with patents from 71 countries in their database. Searchable bibliographic data extend back as far as 1920 for select countries. Facsimiles in pdf format are available for over 30 countries.

• USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) Patent Database

  The full text of patents from 1976 on is searchable. Patents from 1790 through 1975 are searchable only by Patent Number and Current US Classification.
