Dear Members,
I'm not the world's most creative person. I could go through a whole list of examples (from bad birthday gifts to horrible vacations), but I think the best example is that I'm going to reuse Suchi Mohanty's theme from last year as the theme for my term----I'll simply add a rhyming phrase at the end: "What Can LAUNC-CH Do For You, Part Duex." I know, I know...it isn't very imaginative, but I think it sums up what this organization is here to do. In case you haven't recently reviewed our organization's constitution and bylaws, let me point out the following section:
II. OBJECTIVES.
This is a non-profit organization whose purpose shall be:
1. To provide for the professional growth and development of its members.
2. To promote effective library service within the academic community.
3. To foster a spirit of cooperation among members of the library profession.
I can't say it any better than that. This year's board is working and will continue to work towards fulfilling these objectives, but we definitely can't do it alone. We need our members' support and input to reach these goals. So…as you go through your workday and professional life, think about what LAUNC-CH can do for you as a library professional. Then, don't let those thoughts simply pass; get in touch with me or any of the other board members to share your thoughts, ideas, hopes, and plans.
I hope to hear from you soon and often.

President,
