The Hippocratic Oath is an oath traditionally taken by physicians pertaining to the ethical practice of medicine. The "first, do no harm" principle outlined in the Hippocratic Oath has long been used by opponents of capital punishment to argue that a physician can not ethically be involved with an execution. This copy of the Hippocratic Oath comes from an information packet published in May 1979 by the Prison and Jail Project of North Carolina.
