A finding aid is an inventory of an archival collection. The finding aid provides contextual information about the collection and its creators, and it also outlines the collection's arrangement.

A finding aid may include the following components:

A large percentage of the Manuscripts Department's collections are represented in the online finding aids, but these inventories vary greatly in depth and detail. In some instances, a more complete inventory is available only in paper copy through the Department. For a copy of a more complete inventory, please send your request through the online inquiry form.

In addition to searching this site, please search the Library's online catalog where almost all of the Department's collections are represented.
