Scope and Content
The main group of records is arranged chronologically from 1927 to 1996 (folders 1-66). These folders contain administrative records that include membership information, copies of local yearbooks, correspondence, clippings, programs and reports of the North Carolina branches, and annual reports of activities filed by the Chapel Hill branch with the national AAUW office in Washington, D.C. These records are filed by the AAUW fiscal year (July 1-June 30) with some gaps. There are not records for years 1923-1927, 1932-1933, 1936-1937, 1939-1940, and 1941-1942.
Also present are minutes books and financial reports which cover some of the gaps in the administrative files (folders 67-80). Versions of the local bylaws can be found in folder 81. Project files which documentation of a library project and a creative writing contest are in folders 82-94. Boxes 4-5 contain scrapbooks composed of newspaper clippings, press releases, branch bulletins, programs, photographs, and other miscellaneous materials.
