• Harden Family Papers (#4267) at the Southern Historical Collection, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

A. M. Johnson Rayon Mills in Burlington, N.C., was originally built in 1927 and expensively expanded in 1929. The company was reorganized in 1930 as the Carolina Cotton Mills. The mill was closed in 1931.

Materials chiefly related to the A. M. Johnson Rayon Mills, a textile mill in Burlington, N.C., with emphasis on the mill's products, particularly their "Johnsonette" yarn, and plans for the 1929 expansion of the plant. Materials include letters, newspaper clippings, booklets of capital stock certificates, account ledgers, and financial and chemistry binders. The bulk of the materials are dated between 1928 and 1930; earlier materials are not directly related to the mill.
