Letter, 12 June 1887, from Grover Cleveland to Edwin A.
Alderman, regretting that he cannot be present at the convention
of the North Carolina Teachers Assembly and praising its aims; a
pass to admit E. A. Alderman and his wife to the Senate gallery,
signed by Sen. Z. B. Vance, 22 August 1892; and a note from E. A.
Alderman, president’s office, The University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill, to W. S. Myers, Baltimore, Maryland, 18 June 1897.

Edwin A. Alderman’s college manuscript notebook recording
Prof. F. W. Simonds’ lectures on physiology and hygiene during
the 1880 spring session, University of North Carolina, Chapel
Hill. Philip H. Crawford received this volume from his
grandmother when he was a boy (a letter to Phil Crawford, Jr.
from his “Granny” is enclosed in the front of this notebook) and
gave it to his law partner, Albert W. Cowper in 1951.
