The collection includes scattered papers, chiefly financial and legal documents, of James G. Bowen, Rufus B. Wallis, and William W. Bowen, Beaufort County, N.C. Items include administrator's records for the estates of Thomas B. Latham, 1847, and Zachariah Boyd, 1873-1875; contract to teach school in Beaufort County, 1857; tax receipts, 1861 and 1884; chattel mortgage, 1884; promissory note, 1905; deeds, 1895 and 1907; and other receipts and financial documents.
