George Mercer Brooke (died 1851), native of Virginia, was an officer in the United States Army. He entered service in 1808 and was eventually brevetted major general in 1848 for his services in the Mexican War.

The collection includes four letters from Colonel George Mercer Brooke in Boston, Mass., May-July 1819, to Major Loring Austin, Cambridge, Mass., relating to Brooke's taking over Austin's United States Army duties at Boston and arrangements for Austin's resignation due to ill health.
