Edward William Bullard (1911- ) was a chief petty officer at the Norfolk Navy Yard (now the Norfolk Naval Shipyard), Portsmouth, Va., and later a gunnery officer on various United States Navy ships during World War II. His wife, Clara Kale Bullard (1916- ), lived in Belmont, N.C., during the War.

The collection includes personal correspondence, 1942-1945, between Edgar William Bullard, on active duty with the United States Navy, first as a chief petty officer at the Norfolk Navy Yard (now the Norfolk Naval Shipyard), Portsmouth, Va., and later as a gunnery officer on various ships during World War II, and Clara Kale Bullard at home in Belmont, N.C. More recent materials document the Bullards' post-war activities in North Carolina.
