Abstract William Cain was a mathematician and civil engineer. The collection includes chiefly engineering notes concerning bridges,

Also included is a portfolio of memoirs, written by Cain in the 1920s, about the Civil War and his relatives, Superior Court
Judge John Lancaster Bailey and William Henry Bailey.
