The Chapel Hill Country Club apparently was founded in 1907. The club was first located on land rented from R. L. Strowd, and later on land apparently given by W. C. Coker. An early clubhouse, owned by Joseph H. Pratt, was also rented. The Country Club continued to rent the clubhouse from various members of the Pratt family until at least 1919.

The collection contains an account book of records of receipts and expenditures of the Chapel Hill Country Club, 13 December 1907-25 November 1919. Included are records of dues payments and expenses and purchases of such items as golf equipment, party supplies, and phonograph records.
