Scope and Content
The collection includes scattered family correspondence and business papers of Jesse A. Clement, including a contract with a joint stock company to build a plank road from Mocksville, N.C., to Bush Hill, N.C., 1854, and several letters, 1864, from a Confederate soldier serving near Petersburg, Va. Other papers include a warrant, 1853; translation of German passage; and a speech of a candidate for the House of Commons.
