Juliana Margaret Courtney Conner was the wife of Henry Workman Conner of Charleston, S.C.

The collection is the travel diary of Juliana (Courtney) Conner describing a trip with her husband to the plantation of his father, James Conner, in Mecklenburg County, N.C. The couple also travelled to Salem, N.C., through Tennessee to Nashville, where they visited the Andrew Jacksons, and then returned through Cherokee territory and northern Georgia. The diary ended while the Conners were in Marion, Ga. The diary was later published in installments in the Charlotte (N.C.) "Observer" (circa August 1911).
