George Cronin was a private in the U.S. Army who was stationed in Korea in 1946 during the post-World War II occupation.

Diary of George Cronin during his 1946 military assignment in Korea and letters written by Cronin while at various army bases throughout the United States. Letters are addressed to Cronin's friend Edward Martin of Wheeling, W.Va., May-September 1945. The diary and letters describe military life; the diary discusses life in Korea as Cronin experienced it during his free time. Other items include a bag with Korean writing on it, a list of men in Company B at Fort McClellan in Alabama, a list of words translated into Korean, and Cronin2 s discharge card. Also included are photographs taken by Cronin of sites and people in Korea.
