watercolor illustrations; poems; and French fashion
prints, 1798-1914.

Letters written to Margaret Dashiell and two undated
manuscripts, "The Archbishop's Garden" and "Confederate Capital"
both short stories for children, the former with four watercolor
illustrations.

A collection of Dashiell's watercolors to be used as
illustrations in her books and French fashion prints from her
import business in Richmond.
Subseries 2.1. Watercolors
Undated. 66 items.
Watercolors primarily of race relations in Richmond,
Charleston, and New Orleans. Many are of African-American
servants tending white children. Some include quotes from
Dashiell's stories. Also included are watercolors of Civil War
veterans residing in the Soldier's Home and from a reunion at
Hotel Jefferson in Richmond, 1922.

Single prints, mainly of women's fashion imported and
collected by Dashiell for her business, the Serendipity Shop in

color reproduction of a oil painting by Sully.
