while Vance was a student at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, concerning college activities and other matters;
one, 1863, from Vance, then governor, regretting that it was not in his power to favor Davidson with a certain position; one,
1861, from Davidson's brother, Allen Turner Davidson, concerning the latter's election to the Confederate Congress; and one,
1863, from Isaac M. C. Dunn, Davidson's father-in-law.
