The collection includes scrapbooks of mounted clippings, feature articles from newspapers, and tourist literature relating to history, biography, and historic sites in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina, including articles by Earl Dean, collected and compiled by Earl Dean. Some topics include the United States Navy in the Norfolk area, Va., and the USS Forrestal; Jamestown, Williamsburg, Petersburg, Richmond, and Norfolk, Va.; Ocracoke, Hatteras, and Knotts Island, N.C.; Annapolis and Baltimore, Md.; and biographical sketches of Richard Jordan Gatling, William J. Battle, John S. Battle, Henry L. Mencken, James Iredell Waddell, and others.
