           the University of North Carolina, 1817, issued to John
           Eliot; a tax receipt, 1876, for J. G. Elliott; and a
           large tintype of Jonathan "Ghost" Eliot (d. 1881),
           master of Smith's Chapel Academy, near Mount Olive,
           N.C.
