                            Inventory

Abstract: Sarah Barnwell Elliott, daughter of Charlotte Bull
Barnwell and Stephen Elliott, was a novelist,
playwright, and suffragist of Sewanee, Tenn.
Twenty-one letters, 1886-1887, from Sarah Barnwell
Elliott traveling in Europe, to her mother Charlotte
Bull Barnwell Elliott in Sewanee, Tenn., and two items
relating to Elliott's brother-in-law Bishop Francis
Asbury Shoup (1834-1896). Elliott's letters give
detailed descriptions of scenes and experiences in
France, Italy, England, Egypt, the Suez Canal, and the
Holy Land. The Shoup items are a handwritten article
by him on the sacrament of confession and a tribute to
           him.
