23 July-30 August 1861. Forsyth described the flora, fauna, farms, and towns he observed on the trip, following a route along
the Platte River into Nebraska across the Missouri River at Plattsmouth, Neb., into southern Iowa, across the Mississippi
River at New Boston, Ill., and then to Aledo, Ill.
