Thomas Jefferson Green (1802-1863) was a native of Warren County, N.C. and served as a brigadier general during the Texas Revolution and as a representative in the legislatures of four states.

Correspondence and other material, including papers relating to Green's efforts to raise money, ammunition, and men during the Texas Revolution and his interest in politics in Texas, California, and North Carolina; and correspondence of his son, Wharton Jackson Green (1831-1910), Confederate officer, with other Confederate officers, and including letters home while he was a prisoner at Johnson's Island; muster rolls (1836) from Texas; and muster rolls (1862-1864) of the 2nd North Carolina Battalion, Confederate States of America. Correspondents include Dr. Branch Tanner Archer, Bernard Bee, Sr., Edward Burleson, David Gouverneur Burnet, James Hamilton, George Washington Custis Lee, Stephen Dill Lee, William R. Smith, and William H. Wharton.
