Back to TopCollection OverviewPapers of Thomas Hallyburton (1763-1841), probably of Rutherfordton, N.C., shoemaker and gold miner, include a ledger, an insert in the ledger, a bulletin, and photocopied pages of a book. Thomas Hallyburton's ledger dates from 1833 to 1843, and mostly contains information related to shoe sales and repairs and sales of gold from Doggett's Mine. An undated insert in the ledger is a handwritten note about how the Rutherfordton Baptist Church collected contributions from parishioners. Also included is Gold Deposits in North Carolina by Herman J. Bryson, a bulletin published by the North Carolina Department of Conservation and Development in 1936, and photocopied pages from Gold and Silver in the West: The Illustrated History of the American Dream by T.
