| Abstract | Francis Harper (1886-1972), native of Massachusetts, was a zoologist and author affiliated with many universities. He was the author of Mammals of the Okefinokee Swamp Region of Georgia (1927). He retired in Chapel Hill, N.C. The collection includes "An Exchange of Letters, 1913-1915, with Will Henry Thompson," typescript, 16 pages, including transcriptions of four letters and Harper's extensive notes on Thompson, Thompson's brother, Maurice, and Okefenokee Swamp, Ga. Also included is an original letter, 1913, from Will Henry Thompson to Harper, drafts of four letters from Harper to Thompson, a typed draft of "Deep in the Okefinokee with Bow and Arrow," by Will Henry Thompson, several photographs relating to Thompson, and other correspondence of Harper. |
