The collection includes a letters from Israel Pickens, United States representative from North Carolina, to a constituent, Robert Henry of Asheville, N.C. One letter, December 1812, discusses politics, British-American relations, and the forthcoming elections. The other letter, January 1813, specifically mentions Josiah Quincy III and Henry Clay and the prospect of Henry's raising a military company during the War of 1812.
