Information
Frederick Jones Hill (1790-1861) of Brunswick County and Wilmington, N.C., was a planter, North Carolina state legislator, and member of the state convention of 1835. He was a student at the University of North Carolina and attended College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, N.Y., 1811-1812, where he studied under David Hosack (1769-1835).
David Hosack had a distinguished career in medical practice and teaching and was prominent in the social and cultural life of New York City.

Scope and Content
The collection contains a notebook (174 pages) containing notes made by Frenderick Hill when he was a student at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of lectures delivered by David Hosack on various diseases and branches of medicine, and memoranda about examinations, the weather, and conversations with Hosack; and a manuscript copy of Hill's will.
