Abstract John Henry Honour (1802-1885) of Charleston, S.C., was a Protestant minister who was also prominent in insurance and banking, civic, and philanthropic affairs. The collection contains miscellaneous papers including "A History of the Honour family of South Carolina," written by John Henry Honour (handwritten, 18 pages), including an autobiographical sketch; miscellaneous genealogical and biographical notes relating to the Honour family and their Beckham family, Norton family, and other connections; and ten family photographs.
