J. C. SPACH WAGON WORKS, INC., RECORDS
Inventory
Abstract: J. C. Spach Wagon Works, Inc., of Winston-Salem, N.C.,
was operated largely by members of the Spach family, possibly
descendants of Adam Spach (1720-1801), an early Moravian settler
in the area. Billed as "Manufacturers of the celebrated J. C.
Spach Wagons," the Wagon Works were closely related to Unique
Furniture Makers, a furniture manufacturing company also run by
the Spach family.
Account books, cash books, general ledgers, payroll
books, and other financial volumes chiefly of J. C. Spach Wagon
Works, Inc. Some of the volumes, particularly two ledgers
covering the years 1926-1941 and 1946-1953, an account book with
entries 1937-1946, and a trial balance book with entries
1942-1953, relate at least in part to Unique Furniture Makers.
The volumes document operations of the firms and list the names
of employees and creditors associated with them.
