Series 1. Correspondence, 1925-1991.
Arrangement: chronological.
Correspondence of Jones with friends or persons involved in publication of his writings. Beginning in the 1970s, letters are primarily to and from John K. Terres, editor of Audubon magazine, who wrote chiefly about birds. Also included is correspondence with Betty Smith's relatives.

Series 2. Writings and Other Papers, 1943-1986.
Writings of Jones in the form of clippings, articles, and typescript copies. Also included are seven issues of P-EM, the paper for enlisted men at Fort Monroe, which Jones edited in 1945; a typed recollection of Jones's youth in Berryville, Va.; a few clippings on topics of interest to Jones; and miscellaneous receipts and other papers.
