Chiefly poems, literary pieces, pictures from the Bible and romances. There are also biographical items and obituaries as well as many pages from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Family Almanac for 1881.

Clippings are largely articles and stories on American geography and industry. There are also many portrait engravings from magazines of literary men, statesmen, and others.
