Abstract John Randolph Lane was a colonel in the 26th North Carolina Infantry Regiment, Confederate States of America; and a Chatham
County, N.C., businessman. The collection includes letters to Colonel Lane from veterans of the 26th North Carolina Infantry
Regiment, Confederate States of America, with recollections of their service with the regiment for his proposed history of
the unit. Also included are speeches by Lane and a list of Confederate generals living in 1892.
