Abstract:      Diary containing monthly entries concerning the
           health, personal activities, and children's
           development in the family of John B. Laurens, planter
           near Charleston, S.C., and his wife Caroline.  The
           Laurens lived first at Mepkin Plantation on the Cooper
           River and then moved to Cedar Hill.  The diary
           contains references to Charleston social life, members
           of the Ball family, the Laurens' trip to Europe, and
           John's death during the return voyage.
