Abstract:      Family and business correspondence, chiefly 1830s,
           and some financial papers, including slave bills of
           sale, of Laxton, merchant and postmaster at
           Collettesville (originally Burke County, later
           Caldwell County), N.C.  Correspondence deals with
           buying and selling merchandise and with family and
           community matters, and includes one 1839 letter
           describing land for sale in "Cherokee country."
