Biographical NoteDavid McMichen Lees (1807-1872) was the son of William Lees and Jane Lees of Mecklenburg County, N.C. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1829. In more recent years, the family name was spelled Lee. The University of North Carolina Alumni Catalog spells the middle name McMicken.
