Abstract Correspondence of an Alamance County, N.C., family, chiefly letters written, 1861-1862, by John A., Benjamin N., and Jacob
Long in Confederate camps in various places in Virginia, as well as Raleigh, N.C., and Frederick, Md., to their parents John
and Letitia R. Long at home, concerning food, clothes, health, drilling, preaching, and other matters. Among other letters
is one, 1872, from a patient at Insane Asylum, N.C. briefly describing her life there. Spelling is frequently colloquial.
