Series 1. Microfilm and Photostats, circa 1930-1963.
Processing Note: Microfilm and photostats were labeled by MacKinney according to the first letter of the location of the original manuscript and then given an arbitrary number (e.g.. C3 for Cambridge). A card file located in box 2 provides an index to the microfilm and photostats. Microfilm of published articles from scholarly journals is labeled with the letter X.
RESTRICTED: Use of microfilm in older formats may require staff assistance or production of a viewing copy.
Microfilm, photostats, and photo prints chiefly of medieval manuscripts mostly related to MacKinney's research on medieval medicine and medical illustrations. Of particular note are photo prints of Chartres Ms. 62, filed as M2 (Montpelier), which were made prior to 1944 when the original manuscript was destroyed during World War II. MacKinney's photostat of the Chartres manuscript is one of only two known copies.
