Scattered diary entries, 1869-1878, of Macoughtry, a Jefferson County, W. Va., physician, recording details of his medical practice and family and neighborhood activities. The diary is written crosswise over three account books for merchandising businesses: 1798-1803, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., and Bladensburg, Md.; 1803-1811 and 1851-1860, Jefferson County, Va. (now W. Va.); and 1843-1846, Martinsburg, Va. (now W. Va.). The diary also contains genealogical notes of the Bell family.
