                    JAMES MANNEY LETTER BOOK
                            Inventory

Abstract: Letter book, 1847-1851, of James Manney
(1785-1852), a physician in Beaufort, North Carolina.
The letters reflect Manney's professional activities,
his participation in various community projects and
other business ventures, and his political opinions.
Many items are letters-to-the-editor relating to the
sectional controversy of the late 1840s and 1850 , and
to railroad matters. Others are to Manney's son,
James Lente Manney, and concern the latter's medical
education at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in
           New York City.
