John B. Marsh was a 19th-century teacher, preacher, and Sunday school superintendent in Henderson and Transylvania counties in North Carolina.

The collection is a volume titled The Roll Book for Superintendents of Sunday Schools, used 1856-1877, by teacher, preacher, and Sunday school superintendent John B. Marsh of Henderson County, N.C., and Transylvania County, N.C. The book was published by the American Sunday School Union and includes instructions on how to use it and general advice to Sunday school superintendents. The volume includes names and numbers of children and adults in Marsh's classes and whether or not they were able to read; lists of people for whom he wrote letters; prices he charged for various services; notes from sermons delivered in several western North Carolina towns; and other remarks.
