Abstract
Eugene Stuart Martin was a sergeant major in the 18th North Carolina Regiment; later a lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery, Confederate States of America. The collection contains the Civil War papers of Lieutenant Martin, including a design for Confederate uniforms, commissions, orders, and organizational papers, 1861, of the Wilmington Rifle Guards, which became Company I, 18th North Carolina Regiment, Confederate States of America.
